I graduated in 1994 from Bournemouth College of Art & Design, and worked for several years in costume departments in Theatre, Film and Television. Having left my art practise side-lined for many years, it was in 2017, when I attended evening classes in etching. I fell in awe of the process and subsequently became a member of the Thames-side print studio in 2018.
The techniques I use are hard ground for creating an initial drawn image, I inherited grandfathers dipping ink pen and found it achieves a lovely sensitive truthful line when etched. I also use techniques such as aquatint, sugar lift, spit bite and mezzotint. I work on steel, copper or zinc, although I favour steel. My resources are my own observational drawings and paintings and a collection of my own photographic images, these I use for reference.
