Ruth Greenwood is a London‑based printmaker whose work draws deeply on the quiet poetry of domestic space. Trained in aquatint and full‑colour etching, and shaped by an earlier career as a costume technician in theatre and television, Greenwood brings a meticulous, tactile sensibility to every composition. Her still‑life pieces are grounded in observation but elevated by an emotional undercurrent — a sense that each object carries its own history, weight, and presence.
Working with inherited tools and traditional printmaking processes, Greenwood builds images that feel both intimate and timeless. Fruit, vessels, flowers, and everyday arrangements become sites of contemplation: studies in colour, texture, and the subtle choreography of light. Her still lifes are not simply depictions of objects, but meditations on care, memory, and the rituals of looking.
Greenwood’s compositions often centre on the overlooked — the curve of a pear, the bloom on a grape, the soft collapse of a petal — inviting viewers to slow down and inhabit the moment. Through her layered techniques and painterly approach to etching, she creates works that honour the lineage of still‑life art while asserting a distinctly contemporary voice.
In Greenwood’s hands, the familiar becomes luminous. Her prints celebrate the beauty of the everyday and the quiet power of objects arranged with intention, offering a space where domesticity, craftsmanship, and personal history meet.
