My favourite technique is etching. In 2023 I started working on a series of prints called “ws. XXI”. The name literally means - “on the matter” and the Roman numeral denotes the twenty-first century. It is also a meaningful game, as the letters (ws) form my initials. The series consists of mini matrix formats and the one I am presenting is part of it. In the ws. XXI series I use symbolism related to nature. The print “Lapis I” depicts a massive boulder on the shore of the ocean. In the realisation, I have lowered the horizon line in order to achieve the impression of dignity and monumentality of the depicted object. The form of the object is placed at the interface between light and darkness. Light, an important element in the construction of the composition, helps to build the three-dimensional illusion of the object, to bring out the epic features of the image and to build the illusion of the space of the representation in question.
