Linocut print - Mounted on board in Cellophane
h: 30 w: 25 d: 1 (cms).
Using the official motto of the Royal Air Force as a point of inspiration, I created a retro-style female aviator through the technique of lino cutting. This work was both a creative and technical challenge, particularly in my attempt to capture the play of light across the subject’s face and hair. I was intrigued by how glistening highlights could be conveyed through bold cuts and contrast within a limited tonal range. The process pushed me to consider not only form and composition, but also how light can suggest emotion, strength, and timeless elegance within the discipline of traditional printmaking.
