Fiona White / UK
Artist Statement
Fiona White is a contemporary British Artist working in a combination of drawing, collage and traditional print techniques. Inspired by the visual language of architecture, design and craft, White is interested in the tipping point between fact and fiction, experimenting with the gap between the two.
White's latest series of prints MONUMENT reconfigures the debris created in the process of making clothes. She collects the material off-cuts to then reinvent them into something more permanent, encouraging the viewer to rethink what it is that they are looking at.
Recent exhibitions include Detail Gallery Edinburgh (July 2024), Rose is a Rose They Sit, They Go Gallery, London (March 2024), Warbling at Greatorex Street (2024), RA Summer show (2023), Bainbridge Print at ASC Gallery (2023), London Woolwich Contemporary Print (2020, 2021, 2022), ING Discerning Eye (Nov 2022) Barbican Arts Trust (Nov 2022) and selected finalist at international print exhibition, On Paper, Barcelona, Sept 2022.

My presentation referenced my collaboration with the Crafts Study Centre, UCA, exploring the link between materials and meaning. I am currently writing the presentation into an article for submission for the Illustration Research Journal.
