Tetrapak print on Hahnemuhle

h: 19 w: 22 d: 1 (cms).

The School Run: The car is a space for arguing, for talking, for not talking, for laughing, for singing, for thinking, for ranting, for listening and for observing. These prints, taken from observational drawings in my sketchbook and imagination then drypointed onto tetrapak cartons, are part of a series of prints recreating my car journeys both with my kids and in my head. I love the jagged edge and texture these atmospheric prints embody and have paid tribute to the round edged photos we displayed in albums in my own childhood as a way of preserving our journeys and what we see. By using a modern day, environmentally friendly form of printmaking, I hope not only to capture the at times somber and edgy, at other times loving and safe space in and around my car where so much ground is covered but also to address the discomfort I regularly feel at driving a petrol car through our fragile environment.
