Photopolymer relief
h: 30 w: 20 d: 1 (cms).
‘Standing in Time’ is a photopolymer relief print which is part of a series of work inspired by the connections between mental health and nature. This print was developed from a photograph taken whilst I was standing barefoot alone on a black and white sand beach on the Isle of Skye. The sand estimated to be approximately 60 million years old originates from the erosion of volcanic black basalt rock. I have used the photopolymer process to slightly abstract the image and to create greater depth and tone within the lines in the sand. I wanted to explore the sand as a metaphor for time. I was trying to capture the feeling of being both grounded in time by the sand whilst also on a journey through the shifting sands.
