SooMin’s practice is inspired by the transition from one place to another. She has a particular interest in the anticipation of surprise, revealing the unknown in her surrounding and journey. This element of surprises happens while revealing the print in printmaking. Working with drypoint marks and carborundum textures, recently she has been bringing plates to places and evening life drawing sessions. Instead of drawing on a piece of paper, she makes quick marks directly on plates capturing the mood and shades of the model and the environment. Then print them in her studio later on, revealing the surprise.

Born in Malaysia, 1984. Currently lives and works in London. SooMin received her Bachelor of Arts in Fine Arts from Lasalle College of Arts in Singapore, 2007. Later, she completed her MA in Multi-disciplinary Printmaking at University of West of England in 2011. SooMin works as a multi-disciplinary artist and a freelance printmaker. Her practice is inspired by journey and the unknown destination. She explores different mediums such as photography, printmaking, mixed media and book art to express her ideas.

She has 3 artist's books included in Arnolfini Artists' Books Collection in Bristol. She recently also won the Art Gemini Prize for photography category and the People's Choice Prize at Bath Open Art Prize.
