etching and marbled paper sculpture

h: 21 w: 65 d: 10 (cms).

This sculptural work is a series of three dimensional forms made from etching prints and hand marbled paper. It is inspired by Wenzel Jamnitzer's fascinating book created in 1568, 'Perspectiva Corporum Reularium' which includes a series of beautiful engravings that take the five regular Platonic solids as a starting point and vary them by introducing secondary shapes, as well as inverting, stellating and truncating them. With my interest in my own work of translating two dimensional prints into three dimensional forms, it was interesting to use these drawn three dimensional shapes as a starting point for a piece of work.
