Alexandra’s prints are impressionistic in style; aiming for colour, contrast, depth and detail. Usual themes for her artwork include scenes of woodlands and trees, water and reflections and more recently a trip to Japan.
Her main focus is the reduction linocut method which involves repeatedly cutting and printing from the same block of lino in order to layer up an image, the whole edition of prints must be created together as the block is destroyed in the process. All cut and colour decisions are decided as the print progresses using photos for reference and memory or imagination as a guide.
Alexandra has been a full time printmaker since 2012 after moving to Bicester and creating a simple printmaking studio at her home to enable her to develop her skills to the highest standards. This space is also used to teach lino printing privately to novices and professionals alike. Regular, larger linocutting workshops are held at other local venues, including the Phoenix Studio near Thame.
Alexandra’s linocuts have twice featured in the Royal Academy, and have also been exhibited at the Bankside Gallery and Mall Galleries in London. Her work sells widely to collectors in the UK and internationally. She has been a best seller on the Artfinder online marketplace for several years.
