Sophie Lewisohn is a British-Danish painter and printmaker whose linocuts form a visual diary, distilling moments from everyday life. She aims to capture moments of connection, turning fleeting experiences into something which can be shared. She is endlessly fascinated by how to create a composition at once bustling with energy and calmly balanced, with as much focus on the surface pattern - how the forms link together - as the storytelling.
Sophie is primarily self-taught as a painter and printmaker but deepened her skills at courses in Brussels and Amsterdam, including at MK24 and Wackers Academy, and privately with Isabelle Ravet and Raymond Huisman. She is continually experimenting and learning new techniques. Sophie has had solo exhibitions in London at 6 Clerkenwell Close (2019-present) and Bloomsbury Design (2020 & 2021), and in the Netherlands at the Landshuis, Hulst (2018), Good Beans, Amsterdam (2019), Tussen de Bogen 87 (2023-24) and Tweede Boomdwarsstraat 14 (2024). Her work hangs in hundreds of homes.
